The White House state dinner on September 24 for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s first visit since 2015 centers on U.S.-China technological competition, particularly artificial intelligence capabilities, large language model development, semiconductor export controls, and AI safety standards. Confirmed tech attendees include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Google’s Sundar Pichai, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, Qualcomm’s Cristiano Amon, and Dell’s Michael Dell, reflecting trader focus on leaders with direct stakes in AI benchmarks, chip supply chains, and platform ecosystems. The guest list emerged from recent diplomatic announcements following May 2026 talks in Beijing, with AI policy debates—including calls for development pauses and resistance to new regulations—shaping the invite priorities. No major last-minute shifts have been reported days before the event, though seating and final confirmations could still adjust based on ongoing bilateral discussions.
