Recent closure of Senate candidacy registrations in Paraíba, combined with competing coalitions around figures such as Nabor Wanderley (Republicanos), João Azevêdo (PSB), Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (MDB), and Marcelo Queiroga (PL), has sustained a fragmented contest with elevated undecided shares in available polling. João Azevêdo’s resignation from the governorship and Nabor’s departure from the Patos mayoralty to enter the race have intensified competition for the two seats, while alliances involving national actors like President Lula add layers of negotiation without yet producing clear separation. This environment of multiple viable paths to the top vote total explains why trader consensus keeps leading probabilities tightly grouped near even money. Further polling releases, formal endorsements, or shifts in state-level pacts before the October 4 first round could widen gaps by clarifying voter preferences among the leading contenders.
