Trader consensus centers on mid-80s highs for Chicago on September 8, with the 84–87°F bins capturing over two-thirds of implied probability, as National Weather Service guidance and ensemble models project a high near 84–86°F under southerly flow and increasing cloud cover. Recent cooling from early-September heat (highs in the mid-90s) has shifted the pattern toward more typical late-summer conditions, keeping values modestly above the 79°F climatological average while limiting upside risk from stronger ridging. Key variables include afternoon mixing depth and any late-day convection that could cap the peak; fresh model runs and NWS updates over the next 48 hours will refine these probabilities as resolution nears.
