Recent July 2026 ISM Services PMI data at 54.1, just below consensus expectations, underscores steady services-sector expansion that continues to anchor trader positioning for the August reading. Persistent input-cost pressures from petroleum and tariffs, alongside mixed employment trends and resilient new orders, create a narrow range of likely outcomes clustered between 53 and 57. With the composite near its 12-month average and subindexes showing limited volatility, market-implied odds reflect balanced uncertainty over whether business activity and supplier deliveries will sustain momentum or moderate ahead of the September 3 release. Geopolitical factors and inflation concerns remain secondary influences on sentiment.
