Official temperature observations from New York City stations, including Central Park, recorded a minimum of 60-61°F on September 15, aligning with the market's near-certain consensus. Clear skies and light winds overnight supported radiational cooling under typical early-fall conditions, with dew points and pressure patterns preventing further drops. Historical averages place the date's low near 62°F, so the outcome reflected near-normal variability rather than an anomaly. Forecasters from NOAA noted stable high pressure and minimal cloud cover as key drivers. Only a significant data revision from the National Weather Service or an overlooked microclimate effect at official sites could alter resolution, though such revisions remain rare for daily minimums.
