Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Atlanta on August 29 project a daily high in the upper 80s, with partly sunny skies, east winds around 5 mph, and a 30-40% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms that could limit peak heating. This supports the market's close contest between the 86-87°F and 88-89°F bins, reflecting uncertainty in convective timing, cloud cover, and boundary-layer mixing. Afternoon storms often develop along sea-breeze or outflow boundaries, potentially capping temperatures below model guidance if they initiate earlier than expected. Historical late-August averages near 87°F provide baseline context, while the absence of strong high pressure or clear skies reduces odds of 90°F-plus readings. Updated model runs and NWS briefings through the afternoon will refine trader sentiment before resolution.
