Official confirmation from the Kremlin and Chinese authorities that Russian President Vladimir Putin will conduct a state visit to China on May 19–20 accounts for the near-certain trader consensus reflected in current pricing. The two-day trip, issued at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, coincides with the 25th anniversary of the 2001 Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation and follows closely after a U.S.-China summit in Beijing. Preparations are reported complete, with both governments framing the engagement as an effort to strengthen bilateral strategic partnership. While late developments such as an unforeseen health event or sudden diplomatic cancellation remain theoretically possible before month-end, the short timeline and formal scheduling leave little scope for reversal.
