Recent National Weather Service and NOAA model guidance positions Chicago's highest temperature on August 26 near or slightly above the late-August climatological normal of 81°F, with ensemble forecasts favoring afternoon highs in the low-to-mid 80s under partly sunny skies and light southerly flow. This consensus drives the market's heavy weighting toward the 84-85°F and 82-83°F bins, as modest warming from upstream ridging outweighs typical Lake Michigan cooling. Updated runs show limited model spread, with minimal risk of stronger advection or cloud cover that could cap readings below 82°F or push them into the upper 80s. Forecasters will issue final verification from official O'Hare observations tomorrow evening, after which the market resolves.
