The closely matched odds in the Langley Township mayoral race reflect a polarized contest between incumbent Eric Woodward of the Progress For Langley slate and challenger Jay Lundgren of the Langley Strong team ahead of the October 17, 2026, vote. Woodward’s incumbency and record on infrastructure and public safety provide a base of support, while Lundgren benefits from four sitting councillors joining his slate and criticism centered on rapid debt growth and fiscal planning. A July 2026 court petition seeking to disqualify Woodward and two councillors over funding for a prior defamation action, with responses filed in August, adds procedural uncertainty. Slate-based campaigning, recent candidate announcements on both sides, and debates over growth management and transparency sustain the tight positioning, with late developments in the legal matter or voter focus on household debt levels likely to shift sentiment before election day.
