The Ulsan mayoral election is scheduled to take place on June 3, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who wins this election. Interim, temporary, or caretaker mayors will not count. If the result of this election isn't known by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the South Korean government, specifically the National Election Commission (https://www.nec.go.kr/).Trader consensus slightly favors Democratic Party candidate Kim Sang-wook at 52.5% over incumbent People Power Party Mayor Kim Doo-kyum's 47% in the tight Ulsan mayoral race ahead of the June 3 local election, driven by today's agreement between Kim Sang-wook and Progressive Party's Kim Jong-hoon on unification via a primary by May 21, consolidating opposition votes in this multi-candidate battleground. Recent polls showed Kim Doo-kyum leading in the fragmented field, but unification addresses vote-splitting on the progressive side while conservatives remain divided with independent Park Maeng-woo's minor bid. Negative campaigning, including attacks on Kim Sang-wook's past North Korea remarks and incumbent record, sustains the close contest; separation could arise from primary results, conservative consolidation, or shifts in Hyundai labor union support.
