**Patrick Johnstone holds the leading position in the New Westminster mayoral market at 63.5% as the incumbent Community First New West candidate seeking a second term on October 17, 2026.** His advantage reflects standard incumbency benefits in Canadian municipal contests, bolstered by his party's council majority and emphasis on continuing housing, climate, and social policies established since his 2022 victory. Challenger Daniel Fontaine of the New West Progressives, listed at 29%, positions himself on accountability, taxpayer value, and public safety measures including expanded enforcement and street cleaning. The race features limited additional declared contenders, with other names trading near even odds likely due to low volume or speculative interest. Recent developments center on party nominations and platform contrasts aired since spring 2026, with no major late shifts altering the core dynamic ahead of the vote.
