The fragmented field of more than 15 declared candidates for Rio de Janeiro’s two Senate seats on October 4 keeps the contest for first place tightly bunched, with no single contender establishing a clear lead in available July polling. Benedita da Silva (PT) and Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos) appear strongest for the seats overall, yet traders assign comparable probabilities to Carlos Jordy (PL), Michelly Xavier (UP), Monica Benicio (PSOL), and several others because name recognition, party machinery, and regional voting patterns remain dispersed across right, center-right, and left options. The absence of fresh statewide surveys since late July and the withdrawal or ineligibility of higher-profile figures such as Cláudio Castro have left the ordering unsettled. Late-campaign events including candidate debates, major endorsements, or shifts in turnout among key municipalities could widen gaps before election day.
