National Weather Service forecasts indicate an 88°F high for Atlanta on August 29 under partly sunny skies with a 30% afternoon thunderstorm chance, while other models cluster near 85–86°F amid increasing easterly flow and moisture. Cloud cover and convective activity are the key differentiators, as widespread afternoon storms can suppress peak temperatures by 2–4°F through reduced solar insolation and evaporative cooling. These conditions align with late-August climatology, where average highs reach 87°F and thunderstorm frequency rises with Gulf moisture. Market odds favoring 86–89°F reflect this narrow uncertainty window, with resolution hinging on whether convection initiates before or after the daily maximum.
