A reinforced marine layer over the San Francisco Bay Area is moderating daytime heating on August 25, 2026, keeping the highest temperature likely near 70–73°F at official reporting stations. Onshore northwest flow and stratus lingering into midday limit solar insolation, consistent with NWS guidance showing highs around 69–72°F and climatological August averages near 69°F. Recent model runs indicate minimal warming compared with the 76–77°F peak recorded two days earlier, when a shallower layer allowed greater afternoon rise. Key variables include exact marine-layer depth, wind speeds exceeding 15 mph, and precise timing of any stratus burn-off, all of which can shift the daily maximum by 2–4°F. Traders are weighting these coastal dynamics heavily given the tight spread between the 70–71°F and 72–73°F outcomes.
