High pressure aloft and a coastal thermal trough have driven a warming and drying trend across western Washington, positioning Seattle for sunny skies and light northwesterly winds that support afternoon highs in the mid-70s on September 17. Official National Weather Service guidance and multiple forecast models converge on upper 60s to mid-70s readings, consistent with the market's heavy weighting toward 74-77°F bins and near the September climatological average high near 70°F. Recent observations from Sea-Tac show similar conditions the prior day, with no marine push or cloud cover expected to suppress temperatures until later in the period. Resolution will hinge on the official daily maximum recorded at primary Seattle stations.
