Israeli operations in southern Lebanon remain focused on consolidating control over a security zone south of the Litani River and dismantling Hezbollah infrastructure, including recent strikes on weapons sites and underground facilities near ridges such as Ali al-Taher. A fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire framework from 2024, extended into 2025–2026, has constrained larger advances, with Israeli forces conducting targeted raids, artillery fire, and limited ground activity while Lebanese army units deploy in pilot zones to address militant capabilities. Diplomatic talks on Hezbollah disarmament and border arrangements continue in parallel, alongside periodic Israeli strikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs. These dynamics, combined with international monitoring and Lebanese political pressures, shape trader assessments of any deeper incursion toward the capital.
