This market will resolve to "Yes" if there have been the specified amount or more confirmed cases of Measles (Rubeola) in humans in the territory of the United States of America in 2026, according to the CDC case counter by May 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The resolution source for this market will be the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter 'Total Cases' in 2026 (see: https://www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html) at the resolution time. If the counter becomes unavailable, another credible source will be used. Note: Only cases reported by the CDC Measles (Rubeola) counter will qualify, regardless of reports from U.S. State agencies or other sources.Confirmed measles cases in the United States reached 1,842 as of May 7, 2026, according to CDC surveillance data, with 93% linked to ongoing outbreaks that began in 2025 and 25 new outbreaks reported so far this year. Weekly additions have slowed markedly in recent weeks—from 40 cases in mid-April to just 7 by early May—reflecting reduced transmission in affected communities amid heightened vaccination efforts and public health interventions. Most cases continue to occur in unvaccinated or under-vaccinated individuals, primarily children and adolescents, consistent with epidemiological patterns where measles spreads rapidly in pockets of low immunity. CDC case counts are updated weekly and include only laboratory-confirmed reports; traders should monitor the next data release around May 15 for any acceleration before the May 31 threshold. Historical comparisons show 2025 totals exceeded 2,200, providing context for whether cumulative 2026 figures will stabilize or rise sharply in the final weeks of the month.
