Incumbent Democrat Josh Riley holds a strong position in New York's 19th congressional district heading into the November 3, 2026 general election after flipping the seat in 2024. Riley secured the Democratic nomination without primary opposition, while Republican state Sen. Peter Oberacker emerged from his party's June 23 contest to challenge him. The district's narrow Democratic tilt, reflected in its Cook Partisan Voting Index, combined with Riley's incumbency advantages in fundraising and name recognition, underpins trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee at 89.5 percent. Recent nonpartisan ratings classify the race as Lean or Likely Democratic, though the seat's history of narrow margins leaves room for shifts driven by turnout patterns or national midterm dynamics through the fall campaign.
