Incumbent Republican Rob Bresnahan faces Democratic challenger Paige Cognetti in Pennsylvania’s 8th congressional district on November 3, 2026. Trader consensus on Polymarket favors the Democratic nominee at 57.5% to 32% for the Republican, reflecting the competitive nature of this freshman-held seat in a district with mixed partisan trends. Cognetti’s background as Scranton mayor and prior federal service has strengthened her position following unopposed primary wins in May, while questions around the incumbent’s financial disclosures have provided Democrats with ongoing lines of attack. Fundraising, voter turnout in the Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania, and broader midterm dynamics remain key variables that could shift probabilities ahead of Election Day.
