Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office moved in early August 2026 to pursue a court-ordered suspension of Discord after a 13-year-old girl’s suicide was tied to a livestream promoting self-harm, prompting First Lady Janja to publicly call for blocking the platform. Brazil’s data protection authority (ANPD) followed on August 12 by ordering an immediate halt to the “Go Live” feature and similar video tools within three business days until Discord demonstrates stronger child-safety measures, echoing earlier 2026 compliance steps under the Digital ECA statute. These actions build on Discord’s prior rollout of age-assurance tools in Brazil and mirror the 2024 X suspension precedent, though the latest measures target specific livestreaming capabilities rather than full access. Traders are watching for any rapid court rulings or Discord’s compliance response that could shift the timeline for a broader ban.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if use of Discord is banned within Brazil through a nationwide, legally effective government or court order and such ban is publicly confirmed between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
A legally-effective nationwide court order requiring either the temporary suspension of Discord’s activities in Brazil or a prohibition on Discord operating in Brazil will qualify as a ban for the purposes of this market, regardless of whether technical implementation of the order has been completed.
An order that is stayed, suspended, or overturned before taking legal effect will not qualify. If a qualifying order takes legal effect, a subsequent stay, suspension, or reversal will not affect the market's resolution.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Brazilian government, courts and Discord, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
