Recent MetService and international model consensus, aligned with NIWA’s seasonal outlook favoring near-average August temperatures for the Wellington region, positions 12–13°C as the dominant outcomes for the daily maximum on August 11. Climatological normals place the long-term August high near 13°C under typical maritime westerly flow, with current short-range guidance showing no significant warm or cold anomalies. Ensemble runs indicate stable conditions without strong high-pressure blocking or southerly outbreaks that could shift the peak outside this narrow band. Updated forecasts through the coming days will refine wind patterns and cloud cover that directly influence maximum readings, sustaining tight trader focus on these two bins.
