The Rio de Janeiro Senate race for second place remains fragmented heading into the October 2026 vote, with recent Quaest surveys showing Benedita da Silva (PT) holding a modest lead while right-leaning contenders including Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos), Carlos Portinho (PL), Pedro Paulo (PSD), and Márcio Canella (União) cluster closely behind. Trader consensus reflects this split, as overlapping voter bases across parties and limited differentiation in polling keep implied probabilities for any single second-place finisher tightly bunched. Low overall name recognition beyond the frontrunner and the absence of major endorsements or withdrawals in recent weeks have sustained the competitive field. Late campaign shifts, such as coordinated right-wing support, fresh surveys, or turnout changes among key blocs, could still reorder the standings before election day.
