Kosovo's indirect presidential election by the Assembly remains stalled following Vjosa Osmani's April 2026 term end, with Albulena Haxhiu serving as acting president amid repeated failures to secure the required two-thirds majority. Vetëvendosje's June parliamentary victory without an outright majority has intensified negotiations between Albin Kurti's party and the Democratic League of Kosovo, focusing on a consensus candidate to prevent further snap elections by the October deadline. Fragmented support across listed contenders like Veton Surroi, Albulena Haxhiu, and others reflects this cross-party bargaining dynamic and historical precedent for compromise selections. Recent meetings between Kurti and Lumir Abdixhiku, alongside external proposals such as Faton Bislimi, underscore the potential for a breakthrough if parties align on a non-partisan profile; failure to do so could trigger additional dissolution and reset the timeline.

This market will resolve to the next individual who begins a full, non-acting term as President of Kosovo after April 4, 2026.
To count for resolution, the individual must be elected President by the Assembly of Kosovo and take the presidential oath before the Assembly. Serving as acting, interim, or caretaker President alone will not count toward the resolution of this market, regardless of any change in who exercises those duties.
If no such President takes office by April 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from the Assembly of Kosovo and the Office of the President of Kosovo; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
