Forecast models from the National Weather Service and private outlets currently project a daily maximum near 86°F for Chicago on September 8, driven by southerly flow, partly sunny skies, and surface temperatures building from mid-70s overnight lows. This places the outcome near the upper end of the closely bunched 84–87°F range holding the highest implied probabilities. Key differentiating factors include the exact timing of any afternoon cloud increase or weak frontal passage, which could cap readings in the low-to-mid 80s, versus stronger insolation that would push toward 87–88°F. The setup follows several days of above-normal warmth early in the month, though September climatology favors highs near 79°F and leaves room for model adjustments before resolution.
