Trader sentiment on Polymarket's May US CPI year-over-year market clusters tightly around 4.2-4.4%, with ≥4.4% at 30%, 4.3% at 29%, and 4.2% at 23%, reflecting yesterday's hotter-than-expected April print of 3.8% versus 3.7% consensus and up from March's 3.3%. Surging energy costs—gasoline up 28.4% annually—drove the acceleration, elevating Cleveland Fed nowcasts to 4.18% for May amid volatile commodity pressures. The closely contested odds highlight uncertainty between headline inflation's energy sensitivity and stickier core components, with traders pricing swing factors like ongoing oil price momentum and shelter costs. Resolution awaits the June 10 Bureau of Labor Statistics release.
