The fragmented field for Rio Grande do Sul’s two open Senate seats in the October 2026 election keeps trader consensus tightly bunched, with recent Genial/Quaest polling showing Manuela D’Ávila, Germano Rigotto, Paulo Pimenta, Marcel Van Hattem, and Ubiratan Sanderson within a few points of one another and inside the margin of error. Incumbent senators Luis Carlos Heinze and Paulo Paim opted against re-election, opening space for a broad array of pre-candidates from PSOL, MDB, PT, Novo, PL, and smaller parties. A July debate among eight contenders highlighted issues such as state debt with the federal government and judicial matters, yet produced no decisive shifts. With no dominant frontrunner and high uncertainty over final vote distribution between the top two finishers, market prices reflect this competitive dynamic ahead of further polling and campaign developments that could widen or close gaps.
