If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.California's June 2 top-two primary features a fragmented Democratic field that includes Xavier Becerra, Katie Porter, Tom Steyer, Matt Mahan, Antonio Villaraigosa and Tony Thurmond, whose support is divided across multiple candidates. This dynamic has positioned the two leading Republicans, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco and Steve Hilton, at or near the top of recent polling. A televised debate in late April highlighted contrasts on taxes, housing and public safety, while President Trump's endorsement of Hilton has helped consolidate Republican voters. Mail ballots have begun arriving, and the final weeks will test whether any Democrat can consolidate enough support to secure one of the two general-election spots alongside a Republican.
