The French Senate election on September 27 will renew 178 of 348 seats through indirect voting by grand électeurs, primarily local councilors. Les Républicains currently hold 131 seats and face projected net losses of 3–5, driven by Rassemblement National pressure in departments renewed this cycle and competition from other right-leaning lists. Revised estimates after recent municipal contests reflect reduced downside risk, supported by potential offsets in areas such as Haute-Vienne and Doubs plus anticipated gains from left fragmentation. Trader positioning around the 121–128 range reflects these local variables, including candidate unity, alliance patterns, and turnout among the roughly 94,000 electors, with limited national polling available to narrow outcomes further before results.
