Ronaldo Caiado leads trader expectations for third place in Brazil’s October 4 first-round presidential vote because recent national polls place the PSD former Goiás governor ahead of other minor candidates with 4–5% support, behind Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro. Renan Santos of the Mission party and Augusto Cury of Avante follow closely in surveys at 3–4%, reflecting a fragmented right-of-center field where no single challenger has consolidated anti-Lula votes. Recent campaign milestones, including the August 16 start of official advertising and the first debate on August 23, have not produced major shifts that would reorder the lower tier. Caiado’s consistent edge in aggregates and stronger home-state numbers underpin his favored position among traders assessing the likelihood of finishing ahead of Santos, Cury, and Romeu Zema.
