Minas Gerais remains a pivotal swing state in Brazil’s October 4 first-round presidential contest, where a fragmented field of contenders keeps implied probabilities tightly clustered. Incumbent President Lula draws support from traditional PT bases while facing competition from right-leaning figures including former Minas governor Romeu Zema, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, Ronaldo Caiado, and emerging names such as Renan Santos and Pablo Marçal. Zema’s recent resignation from the state governorship to campaign nationally has sustained his regional profile, yet vote splitting on the right and Lula’s policy initiatives on debt relief and fuel prices maintain balance. Trader consensus reflects this uncertainty, with separation likely hinging on upcoming debates, regional turnout patterns, and any late shifts in conservative consolidation ahead of election day.
