The contest for second place in Mato Grosso’s Senate election remains fluid, with trader consensus reflecting a crowded field and high undecided rates in recent polling. Janaina Riva (MDB) holds the strongest position for the spot based on consistent leads in second-preference surveys, while José Medeiros (PL), Carlos Fávaro (PSD), and Pedro Taques (PSB) trail in tighter contention. Candidate registrations closed in mid-August after party conventions, locking in a field of ten contenders for the two seats up on October 4. Alliances tied to the gubernatorial race, including potential chapa support, continue to shape voter consolidation, yet elevated indecision (often near 45%) and overlapping support bases limit separation among the top challengers. Late polling shifts or turnout patterns among rural and urban blocs could still alter the ordering before election day.
