Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins faces limited opposition in Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district jungle primary on November 3, 2026, after the August 7 filing deadline closed with only a handful of declared candidates, including Democrat John Day. The district’s strong Republican lean—reflected in Higgins’ 70%+ share in 2024—positions him to exceed the 50% threshold needed for an outright win and avoid a December runoff. Trader pricing at 92.5% for an outright winner aligns with the absence of competitive challengers or recent polling shifts that could fragment the vote. Scheduled events such as candidate debates or late filings remain unlikely to alter the dynamics before November.
