**Incumbent Mike Johnson (R), the House Speaker, enters the November 3, 2026, nonpartisan blanket primary for Louisiana’s 4th congressional district with overwhelming structural advantages in a solidly Republican seat.** He previously secured 85.8% in the 2024 primary, and the district’s partisan composition plus his high name recognition and fundraising (over $17 million raised) position him to consolidate the bulk of Republican support. Opponents—including Democrats Conrad Cable and Matthew Gromlich plus Republican challengers Mike Nichols and Gordon Heslop—have filed but raised negligible sums (under $300,000 combined in recent reports) and lack polling traction or broad visibility. This fragmented, low-resource field makes a vote split sufficient to force a December runoff highly unlikely under the majority requirement. Trader consensus reflected in the 93% implied probability for an outright first-round winner stems directly from these factors, consistent with historical margins in safe Louisiana districts where incumbents routinely clear 50% without runoff. No late developments have altered the competitive dynamics since qualifying closed in early August.
