The first round of the 2026 midterm LA-06 House election will be held on November 3, 2026. A candidate may win the election “outright” in the first round by winning more than 50% of the valid votes in the first round. This market will resolve to “Yes” if any candidate wins the 2026 midterm LA-06 House election outright in the first round. Otherwise, it will resolve to “No”. If the results of the first round of the specified election are not known definitively by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". This market will resolve based on the results of this election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the state electoral authority responsible for certifying the results of the LA-06 House election.**Multiple serious Republican candidates are competing in the November 3, 2026 jungle primary for the open LA-06 seat, making an outright majority (>50%) highly unlikely.** Cleo Fields (D), the incumbent, announced in July he would not seek re-election after redistricting shifted the Baton Rouge-area district toward Republicans following the Supreme Court decision in the Louisiana redistricting case. Qualifying in early August confirmed a fragmented field that includes several Republicans—such as state senators Blake Miguez and Rick Edmonds, plus Larry Davis, Michael Mebruer, and Monique Appeaning—alongside at least one Democrat, Lindsay Garcia. Louisiana’s all-candidate primary format routinely produces runoffs when votes split across parties or within the dominant side, and no single contender currently shows the breadth of support needed to clear 50% on election night. The December 12 runoff date is already set as the default. Near-certain trader consensus on “No” reflects this structural reality and the absence of any late consolidation or withdrawal that would concentrate support. An outright win would require either rapid candidate exits narrowing the GOP field dramatically or an unforeseen surge by one contender that overcomes the current split.
