The market-implied odds reflect the strong consensus that Manila’s official high temperature on September 9 will reach 30°C, driven by PAGASA observations and model guidance showing a peak of 29.7–31°C under the southwest monsoon. Persistent cloud cover, scattered thunderstorms, and moderate southwest winds have limited daytime heating to near the seasonal average for early September, with recorded maxima at the Science Garden station aligning closely with this threshold. Traders are pricing in the high likelihood that monsoon-driven humidity and rainfall will prevent both cooler outliers and any brief spikes above 31°C before evening cooling sets in. A sudden clearing of skies or shift in steering patterns could allow temperatures to edge higher, though current model consensus and ongoing habagat conditions make significant deviation improbable before resolution.
