Trader consensus positions Paul St-Pierre Plamondon as the frontrunner for Quebec's next premier because recent polls show the Parti Québécois and Quebec Liberals tied near 32 percent in popular support ahead of the October 2026 election, yet PQ strength in francophone ridings projects a National Assembly majority under the current electoral map. Charles Milliard, acclaimed Liberal leader in February after Pablo Rodriguez's resignation, has narrowed the gap by improving party fortunes in Montreal and anglophone areas. Christine Fréchette leads a Coalition Avenir Québec hampered by voter fatigue following François Legault's January exit, while Éric Duhaime and smaller-party candidates remain marginal in the two-way contest. Scheduled debates and ongoing polling shifts could still alter seat projections before election day.
