Andy Eads, the Republican incumbent serving as Denton County Judge since 2018, holds a commanding position in the 2026 general election matchup against Democratic nominee Nick Pappas, with trader consensus reflecting his strong structural advantages in a Republican-leaning Texas county. Eads advanced unopposed through the March 2026 Republican primary, while Pappas secured the Democratic nomination similarly. Denton County’s voter base, combined with Eads’ record on infrastructure, low tax rates, and public safety priorities, underpins the wide margin in implied probabilities. Scenarios that could narrow the gap include a major scandal, significant health event, or an unexpected Democratic surge in statewide turnout, though such shifts would require substantial deviation from historical voting patterns in the county.
