Incumbent Leonard Krog maintains a strong lead in the Nanaimo mayoral race for the October 17, 2026 election, backed by his record as a two-term mayor and former BC NDP MLA, along with his July re-election announcement emphasizing core municipal services. Anne Marie Dryden, positioned under the newly formed REAL Nanaimo slate with right-leaning ties, holds secondary positioning after declaring earlier in the year. The recent entry of Sarah Lovegrove as a third declared candidate adds limited fragmentation but has not materially shifted the field ahead of the September 11 nomination deadline. Trader consensus reflects historical incumbency patterns in BC municipal contests and the absence of major polling shifts or late developments that would alter the competitive balance.
