President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s confirmed bid for a fourth nonconsecutive term has prompted the Workers’ Party to center its 2026 strategy on his candidacy ahead of the October 4 general election. The party’s April national congress adopted a manifesto explicitly prioritizing Lula’s reelection and directed leadership to build wider alliances. Party conventions set for July 20 to August 5 align directly with the August 15 filing deadline, positioning formal nomination as the next procedural step. Recent PT statements highlight stepped-up national mobilization and Lula’s direct guidance on campaign preparations, underscoring internal unity that underpins the current trader consensus reflected in market pricing.
