Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Magistrate of Chiayi County as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Magistrates appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).**Tsai Yi-yu’s decisive DPP primary victory in January 2026 established him as the party’s nominee for Chiayi County Magistrate ahead of the November 28 local elections.** The legislator secured a strong margin over county councilor Huang Rong-li, leading to formal nomination by the DPP Central Executive Committee. Chiayi County has favored DPP candidates in recent cycles, providing structural support for the nominee in a race where party machinery, local networks, and incumbency patterns typically shape outcomes. Trader consensus reflects this positioning, with Tsai Yi-yu priced at 85% while other listed names—including potential opposition contenders such as Wu Pin-jui and Tsai Sung-yi—remain at single digits or neutral levels. No major polling shifts, candidate withdrawals, or late developments have emerged in the past several months to alter the balance. The market continues to price the DPP nominee as the clear favorite, consistent with historical vote patterns and the absence of competitive primary results from other parties.
