Goldman Sachs holds the strongest position as OpenAI’s prospective lead-left underwriter, reflecting its recent selection for the top role in SpaceX’s massive 2026 IPO and deep advisory ties in major technology listings. OpenAI confidentially filed its S-1 in June 2026 after engaging both Goldman and Morgan Stanley as primary bookrunners, with the latter positioned as a close second amid competition for the coveted lead designation. Separate deal teams at the banks also support rival Anthropic’s preparations, underscoring their dominance in artificial-intelligence IPOs. Recent statements from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman indicate a likely 2027 debut timeline driven by AI safety priorities and valuation targets, yet this shift has not altered the established bank hierarchy or syndicate structure. Traders continue to price Goldman’s execution track record and allocation influence as the decisive factors ahead of any formal prospectus updates.

If no IPO occurs by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, or OpenAI completes an initial public offering without a designated lead underwriter, this market will resolve to “Other.”
If multiple banks are identified as lead underwriters, this market will resolve according to the primary lead underwriter. If the hierarchy between them is unclear, this market will resolve once it is conclusively evident which bank is the primary lead underwriter, for example, through the order in which the banks are listed in the underwriting section of OpenAI's final initial public offering prospectus, once released.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official disclosures from OpenAI. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
