Current forecasts from the National Weather Service and major models indicate overnight lows in New York City on September 3 will likely settle in the lower 70s amid widespread cloud cover, showers, and a southerly flow maintaining a warm, humid air mass. These conditions limit radiative cooling compared to typical early-September climatology, where average lows near 65°F reflect clearer skies and northerly advection. Trader consensus clusters around 70–73°F bins because ensemble spreads reflect modest uncertainty in exact dewpoint depression and precipitation timing overnight, while lower-probability cooler outcomes would require faster clearing or a sharper frontal passage than currently modeled. Updated NWS guidance and model runs through September 2 will provide the next key refinements.
