Recent polling and preliminary results from the September 20, 2026 Landtag election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern show Die Linke securing third place with approximately 6.5 percent, ahead of the Greens at 5.7 percent and well clear of the CDU at 4.9 percent. This positioning stems from Linke's established regional base in eastern Germany, consistent summer surveys placing it between 9 and 12 percent, and weaker performances by centrist and smaller parties facing the five-percent threshold. AfD and SPD lead with 38.2 and 35.5 percent respectively. Trader consensus on Linke for third reflects these vote-share trends and historical patterns in the state. Late shifts in turnout or final counting adjustments remain the primary variables that could still alter the narrow margin for that spot.
