If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.Xavier Becerra holds an overwhelming lead in Santa Clara County trader consensus for the June 2, 2026, California gubernatorial primary due to his consolidation of Democratic support across the Bay Area. As former state attorney general and U.S. HHS secretary, Becerra benefited from unified endorsements, strong polling gains in the final weeks, and a top-two system that rewarded his broad name recognition and experience. Tom Steyer, despite heavy self-funding and climate-focused appeals, trailed significantly in county results as Democratic voters coalesced around Becerra. Lower-probability candidates including Katie Porter, Antonio Villaraigosa, and local figures like Matt Mahan split remaining support without mounting a serious county-level challenge. Vote counting continues, but partial tallies confirm Becerra’s decisive margin in this Democratic-leaning jurisdiction.
