Recent polling indicates Benedita da Silva (PT) maintains a narrow edge in Rio de Janeiro’s Senate contest, bolstered by her nomination on the ticket led by gubernatorial candidate Eduardo Paes and her established base among PT and evangelical voters. The right-leaning field remains fragmented after Flávio Bolsonaro shifted to a presidential bid, while investigations have sidelined other potential PL and allied contenders such as Cláudio Castro. Limited surveys since July have left traders pricing a close race for first place among Silva, Marcelo Crivella (Republicanos), Pedro Paulo (PSD), and Carlos Portinho (PL). With the October 4 vote roughly seven weeks away, fresh polling, candidate endorsements, or late legal developments could widen the gap or consolidate support behind one contender.
