Recent Met Office guidance and ensemble model runs point to a daytime maximum of 22–23 °C in London on 13 September, with the two outcomes trading within a few percentage points. Persistent low cloud, outbreaks of light rain or drizzle, and light westerly winds have limited solar heating and kept the diurnal range narrow, while elevated humidity has further moderated peak readings. Afternoon clearing from the northwest offers the main variable that could push the thermometer toward 23 °C or hold it at 22 °C. Official hourly observations through the remainder of the day will resolve the market, underscoring the sensitivity of late-summer maxima to small changes in cloud cover and boundary-layer moisture.
