Forecast models from NOAA and other agencies point to a high in the low 80s for New York City on September 17, driven by southerly winds advecting warmer air ahead of a weak front, combined with increasing cloud cover that moderates daytime heating. Current observations on September 16 show temperatures reaching the upper 70s under mostly sunny skies, setting up modest overnight recovery. Historical September averages near 76°F provide context, while the 20% chance of light showers or drizzle noted in some runs introduces minor uncertainty around peak values. Traders appear to weigh these variables heavily, with the 82-83°F bin holding the strongest implied probability as model consensus stabilizes ahead of the daily high observation window.
