Taiwanese local elections are scheduled to be held on November 28, 2026. This market will resolve according to the candidate who becomes the next Mayor of Taoyuan as a result of this election. Temporary, interim, or placeholder Mayors appointed before the election will not be considered. If the result of this election isn't known, or no candidate has been elected, by June 30, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other". This market will resolve based on the results of the elections as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the Taiwanese government, specifically the Central Election Commission (https://db.cec.gov.tw/).Incumbent KMT Mayor Chang San-cheng holds a commanding lead in the Taoyuan mayoral race ahead of the November 28, 2026 local elections, consistent with trader pricing that assigns him the highest implied probability among listed outcomes. The DPP formalized its challenge by nominating former deputy justice minister Huang Shih-chieh in April 2026, yet earlier polling showed the incumbent ahead of potential rivals by solid margins. KMT organizational efforts, including a July 2026 rally backing re-election bids across multiple municipalities, have reinforced party cohesion in this key special municipality. Limited recent movement in alternative candidacies, including Perng Shaw-jiin, aligns with the market's assessment of structural advantages for the sitting mayor in a contest shaped by party nominations and local governance records.
