Recent U.S. egg supply recovery after 2022–2025 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza losses has driven sharp price declines, with retail averages falling to $2.14 per dozen in June 2026, down 27.9% year-over-year per BLS data, amid flock rebuilding and higher 2026 production forecasts from USDA. Wholesale benchmarks near $0.62 per dozen in mid-August reflect oversupply pressures that continue to weigh on retail levels. Market-implied odds cluster in the $2.10–$2.40 range because these fundamentals point to stabilization below prior peaks rather than renewed spikes, though isolated HPAI detections or seasonal demand shifts remain swing factors. Trader consensus priced via real capital thus reflects the balance between expanded layer inventories and steady consumer demand.
