Bosnia and Herzegovina's general elections on October 4, 2026, will select the next Croat member of the tripartite Presidency, amid ongoing debates over legitimate ethnic representation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) nominated Darijana Filipović in mid-April as its candidate, with party leader Dragan Čović urging a unified Croat list to consolidate votes traditionally split by the electoral system. Incumbent Željko Komšić, criticized by Croat nationalists for relying on Bosniak support, backs Democratic Front's Slaven Kovacević, announced late 2025. The Central Election Commission confirmed the date on May 7, with over 8,000 candidates registered, heightening focus on turnout in Croat-majority areas and potential coalition dynamics.
